I love a good view of the city, and with all the "Brusselization," there are plenty of rooftops to take it all in. Today, we’re sticking mostly to the city center as we explore some of my favorite spots to catch a glimpse of everything going on. Now, Brussels isn’t exactly the sunniest city, so don’t be surprised if the view is obscured by clouds—that’s just how things work here!
One thing I love about Brussels is how international the cuisine is. You can find food from all over the world in this city, and that certainly includes Asian food. Whether it’s Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean, Thai—you name it—it can be found in the heart of Brussels. Here are five of my personal favorite spots for Asian food in the city center.
Brussels, also known as the Capital of Europe, is home to some of the largest European Union institutions. In the European Quarter, you’ll find politicians, young and old, working toward the future of Europe. The area is also home to numerous historical sites, all within walking distance, for those fascinated by the founding, establishment, and daily workings of the EU. So come along as we explore five historical stops for EU history.
Belgium and beer go hand in hand. Some of the best beers in the entire world can be found in this small country… and what better place to drink them than an authentic Brussels bar. From Trappist heavyweights, to local microbrews with diehard followings, you’re sure to find a wide variety in any of these five classic Brussels bars in the center.
With the cold weather setting in, few things are more cozy than a nice warm tea. Brussels has so many destinations for tea lovers. Weather you’re looking to try a rare Chinese oolong, a toasted sencha, or sip a nice infusion, we’ve got some great recommendations. Today we’re focusing on the Ixelles area, with five stops for tea lovers!
It goes without saying at this point that Brussels is a coffee city. There’s always something going on in the world of specialty coffee in Brussels. From cuppings, to parties, to collaborations with local bakeries, you’re certain to find something worthy of drinking. While there’s great specialty coffee shops all over Brussels, today we’re focusing on the center, as we’ve got five stops for specialty coffee… hope you don’t get the jitters!
Saint-Gilles is one of my favorite communes when it comes to food. Not only are there some of the city’s best restaurants, but it’s also a great place for drinks as well. The focus of this walk is Belgian food and Belgian beer, so enjoy and discover five stops to snack your way through Saint-Gilles.
In the last half-decade, Brussels has become quite the destination for craft cocktails. You’ll find, in my opinion, some of the best bartenders making some of the best cocktails you’ll ever have right here in the center of Brussels. If you’re looking to throw back a libation… or five, here’s five stops on a cocktail crawl of the center.
While the comic books strip walk is quite well known amongst tourists and fans alike, the other side of Brussels street art often comes in the form of less legal installations. Here you will discover a mix of both as I’ll point out five street artists to catch in the center.
Home to some of the most beautiful houses anywhere in the world, discover five Art Nouveau houses in the Châtelain neighborhood
